Japanese Encephalitis Vaccination Drive in Kokrajhar District Details

The Government of Assam and the National Health Mission, Assam, has started a very nice campaign for the welfare of the people.

They are running the Japanese Encephalitis Vaccination Drive in Kokrajhar district from 29 February 2020 onwards till they cover the whole area of the region. Through this campaign, they are targeting people of age group 15 - 65 years who need to be vaccinated. The Motto of the campaign is:

One Vaccination Can Save Your Life!

What is Japanese Encephalitis?

Japanese Encephalitis, also know as JE, in short, is a disease spread by Culex mosquito

Symptoms of JE

  • Acute Fever
  • Headache
  • Mental Irritability
  • Vomiting Tendency
  • Convulsion
  • Loss of Consciousness

Prevention from JE

  • Always use mosquito net while sleeping
  • Keep pigs and piggeries away from your house
  • Always wear fully covered clothes
  • Incensing the house in the evening

How dangerous is Japanese Encephalitis?

There is no proper cure for this disease yet. A lot of people die every year with JE. In Assam itself, the death toll is approx 100 every year. Source. So now, you can imagine the number of the whole of India.

We all know the famous saying, "Prevention is better than Cure." So get yourself vaccinated against JE rather than getting infected and struggling to find cures later.

As part of our Kokrajhat district campaign, the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) team visited our Village on 13 March 2020, and I have got myself vaccinated.

There is news from all over the places of the district about the ANM team and other qualified members administered with this JE vaccination drive taking place.

Here's the Japanese Encephalitis Vaccination Drive leaflet of our Kokrajhar District.
